Minhas, Manjit

Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Manjit Minhas is an award-winning entrepreneur born and raised in Calgary. As an engineering student, she founded Minhas Breweries, Distilleries and Wineries at 19 with her younger brother, Ravinder Minhas. Under her leadership, the company has grown into one of the largest breweries in North America.

HLCol Minhas is widely recognized for her role on the CBC show, Dragons’ Den, for over 8 seasons. She is the host of The Manjit Minhas Podcast, where she interviews top business leaders and CEOs to gain insight into their path to success. In addition, she is an accomplished public speaker and mentor to aspiring leaders.

HLCol Minhas has seen her leadership recognized numerous times, including by Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, the Alberta Centennial Medallion, Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of The Year, Chatelaine magazine’s Top Entrepreneur Woman of The Year, as well as Forbes magazine.

HLCol Minhas sits on numerous public, private, and charitable boards—including her role as Co-Chair of United Way and YWCA— and is actively involved in her community to support Canadian entrepreneurs and women’s initiatives. HLCol Minhas lives in Calgary with her husband, Harvey Shergill, and their two young daughters.

On January 22, 2023, HLCol Minhas was formerly appointed as Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in a ceremony at Casa Loma, succeeding outgoing HLCol Vicky Sunohara.
