  1. Hello, my name is Paul Collyer, Perrys cousin. My father was Ken Collyer, previously Ken Hoare. My dad was Perrys uncle. We lived on Pelee Island until I was four. I remember to this day when our family was notified of Perrys passing. I was eighteen at the time. Glad I saw your comments.

    1. Hi Paul, good to see your note regarding Perry.
I lived on the island until I was 16. Then it was off to school on the mainland.
Perry was my very first boy friend. He was a sweetheart! Have thought about him many times over the years. Yes, I too remember the day we heard Perry was in an accident and passed overseas.
Where did you live on the island? We were on Clutton Road right across from Girardin’s.
You probably knew my brother Brian.

  2. Is any of his family still around. I have a friend in Cambridge, Dave Sopha, who is an Artist. He painted the mural “Portraits of Honour” of the Afghan soldiers 158 that died. He now is working on a mural of the 27 Peacekeepers that died in Cyprus. Hoping to find photos of all 27.

  3. No I have not sorry. As a kid I remember driving to Peelee Island with my family to look for his parents to return the I.D. but my Dad had no success. How are you related and were do you live? Kirk

  4. Perry was friends with my father William McDonald and the night he passed away he borrowed some rings from my father since he was going out on the town that night in exchange for his I.D. which I still have. Wondering if any family is around. Thanks

    1. Hello, Perry had an uncle his name was Charlie. Charlie changed his name to Oare, dropping the”h”. Charlie had a,daughter whose name was Maryann. I think Charlie passed many years ago however Maryann would be in her ’70’s.

  5. My father, Gordon Edward Latta knew Perry Hoare. They were both in the QOR at the same time. My father was in Cypress at the same time Perry passed away and he helped prepare Perry’s gear/kit for burial as he was the NCO in charge that day… he says it was a very sad day 😢
