Interesting article from the Dominion Institute on how perception of the enemy changes over time and circumstances:

One of our new acquisition this year is a pattern 1860 expense pouch. This was worn on the front right hip for ready use ammunition. Holding 10 rounds, a rag and a small oiler. Used by the Regiment when Sniders were adopted in 1868 worn until the adoption of the 1899 Oliver Pattern Leather equipment.
New acquisition at the museum. This is a dated 1862 rifles snake belt. The Regiment has worn snake belts it's whole existence. This is an interesting example due to the adjusting portion of the belt is on the internal portion and not with an adjuster buckle that goes around the whole belt.
Last night the Regiment's @1860club held a dinner at the museum's home at Casa Loma. Sold out and a great time! We at the museum put on a display of some of our DDay objects as well as newly acquired artifacts from the 1860s.
78 years ago today, the 1st Battalion Queen's Own Rifles of Canada landed on Juno Beach. Today we remember their sacrifices. We will remember them!
Please head over to our YouTube Channel and watch our new Documentary on Rifleman: The Dock Yip Story!
We have a bunch of new exciting items in our museum collection that will be highlighted soon!
