
Lieutenant Colonel Robert Zeidler, CD – Former Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major of the Upper Canada College Rifles and winner of The Queen’s Own Rifles medal for proficiency, Rob enlisted with the Regiment in 1978.
After university, he joined the British Army’s 2nd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment before enrolling at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Following his graduation he was commissioned into the 9th/12th Royal Lancers and in 1988 promoted to Captain. He later joined the 4th Battalion, Royal Green Jackets.
He returned to The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada in 1999 holding numerous positions including CSS, parachute and rifle company commanders and Deputy Commanding Officer.
From 23 to 26 he was posted as the first Canadian Army Reserve Exchange Officer to the US Army as the Combat Training Center Officer for the US Army Reserve Command in Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Having returned to Canada, Lieutenant Colonel Zeidler was appointed the 45th Commanding Officer in June 2008.
