Thomas, George Edward

SC 137884 Rifleman George Edward Thomas was born 19 Nov 1937 in Orono, Ontario where he received his early education.

He enrolled in the Regular Army on 11 October 1957 in Ottawa. On completion of his depot training, George was posted to the 2nd Battalion, The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, then serving in Germany, where he became a member of the Signals Platoon.

Rifleman Thomas died 28 July 1962, aged 24 as a result of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in Calgary on that day.  [Rifleman Hugh Charles Miller also died as a result of injuries from an accident on this date.]

We was buried in Orono, Ontario with full military honours.
