SMITH, William

D31330926 Rifleman William Smith, CD was born in Cork, Ireland in 1890 to Bill Smith and Ira Kelly. He served in the First World War and was a baker by trade.

William joined the Queen’s Own in 1907 as part of 7 (baker’s) Company and was promoted to Corporal in 1910 the same year he accompanies the Regiment on the England Trip to train with the British Army. There is a photo of him taken in Aldershot during maneuvers.

In 1919 William married Edna Shannon, they had tree daughters. A baker by trade, his shop was located at 124 Young St, Toronto. William died in 1962 and is buried in St Paul’s Cemetery Toronto, Plot 7-354
