SMITH, William

D31330926 Rifleman William Smith, CD was born in Cork, Ireland in 1890 to Bill Smith and Ira Kelly. He served in the First World War.

William joined the Queen’s Own in 1907 as part of 7 (Baker’s) Company and was promoted to Corporal in 1910 the same year he accompanied the Regiment on the England Trip to train with the British Army. There is a photo of him taken in Aldershot during maneuvers.

In 1919 William married Edna Shannon, and they had three daughters. A baker by trade, his shop was located at 124 Young St, Toronto.

William died in 1962 and is buried in St Paul’s Cemetery Toronto, Plot 7-354
