Rifleman Ernest Sawchuck was born 5 September 1936 in Innisfree, Albert.

He served for three years with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry prior to his enlistment with The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada in January 1960.

He died at the age of 24 on 13 February 1960 at Calgary, Alberta.  He was accorded a military funeral and buried in Burnsland Cemetery Field of Honour 18 February 1960.
