Charles was born in Kearney, Ontario on September 17, 1889, He enlisted in the Army in 1917 and served with the 1st CMR, Queen’s Own Rifles in England, France and Belgium during World War I. Charles was wounded in action twice, as Well as gassed. Following his discharge in 1919, he delivered lumber by horse and wagon for Welsh Lumber Company in Toronto. He participated in the Veterans Colour Party and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Toronto. Charles passed away on May 22, 1982.
