Basil James McMeeken was born on October 8, 1938 in Toronto, ON.

He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on July 5, 1956 and served with Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada in Germany and Cyprus. He was discharged on October 5, 1968 and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration, the NATO Medal and the United Nations Medal.

Basil has been a member of Flesherton – Markdale Legion Branch 333 for 47 years.
