B65040 Lance Corporal Edelore Graham Dennis McGuey was born on 8 January 1921 in Whitney, Ontario, the son of William McGuey and Caroline Minnie Elie. He attended public school in Whitney and was working as a truck driver in Toronto when he enlisted.
McGuey married Agnes Muriel Jean ? on 15 May 1942 and two months later left for England.
He enlisted with The Queen’s Own Rifles active service battalion on 17 March 1942 in Toronto and trained at Camp Borden before arriving in England as a reinforcement in July 1942. On 21 May 1943 he was appointed Lance Corporal.
Lance Corporal McGuey landed on Juno Beach on D-Day, 6 June 1944, aged 23 and is buried in Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, grave reference VI. D. 4.
