
Lieutenant Colonel Charles L. Jones, CD was born 17 September 1921 in Ontario, son of George James Lyndon Jones and Elsie Hill Gowdy.
He died 30 July 1981.
Service Record:
- July 1940 – Joined 2nd Reserve Battalion QOR as a rifleman
- 1942 – Posted to 3rd Battalion
- Sep 1942 – Commissioned and took officer training at Gordonhead, BC
- Sep 1943 – Went overseas as reinforcement officer
- 12 June 1944 – Joined Highland Light Infantry on the beach head in Normandy as a reinforcement officer
- Posted to 1st Bn QOR at Battle of Bourguebus Bridge
- Aug 1944 – Wounded
- Oct 1944 – Wounded at Oostberg, The Netherlands and invalided back to UK
- Apr 1945 – Invalided home to Canada and discharged from active army
- 1952 – Re-joined QOR militia as Lieutenant
- 1953 – Promoted Captain
- 1955 – Promoted Major
- 1958 – Qualified Militia Staff Course
- 15 Dec 1965 – Appointed Commanding Officer and promoted to Lieutenant Colonel
- 10 Oct 1967 – Relinquished command and retired
