Robert was born on January 10, 1925 in Maple, ON. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on January 26, 1944 and served with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, 3rd Division, B Company in Belgium, Holland and Germany during World War II. He went to Germany to join the occupation Force, the Highland Light Infantry of Canada, in September 1945 and came home in June 1946. He was awarded the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, and the 1939-45 War Medal. He was a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for 62 years. Robert passed away on July 3, 2012.
