SK 100606 Lance Corporal Wayne Hardie was born in Mission, British Columbia, 25 Nov 1939, and educated and employed in his home town prior to enrolment.

He enrolled in the Regular Army 9 January 1956 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He married the former Joan Marie Kearsley in Mission  24 August 1957, and a son Edward Leroy, was born 19 September 1958.

Lance Corporal Hardie died as a result of a motor accident in Calgary 31 July 1961. At the time of his death he was an NCO with the signal platoon. He was active in sports and had been a member of the team that won the 1961 Garrison Basketball Championship.

He was buried at Hatzic Cemetery, Mission, BC 4 August 1961 with full military honours.
