Rifleman Harold Wayne George was born December 1949 and enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 20 June 1968. He received his recruit training at the Regimental Depot in Calgary.

On posting to 1st Battalion he served with A Company until his untimely death in a training accident on 24 September 1969. He was drowned during a watermanship exercise on the Sooke River near Sooke, British Columbia, when the assault boat in which he was a passenger, overturned.

The funeral service with a Battalion Burial Party in attendance, was conducted on 30 September, 1969 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby, BC.
