John Henry Davies was born in 1861 at West Flamboro, Ontario, son of Private John Davies who came from England in 1829 with a regiment sent to garrison the country.
Davies fought in the 1885 North West Rebellion with I Company, The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada.
He was for many years employed by the Grand Trunk Railway, was an honorary life member of Hammersmith Lodge and St Alban’s Lodge, Sons of England, and a member of Georgina Lodge, A.F. & A.M.
He died in January 1941 at the Toronto Hospital for the incurables where he had been a patient for 5 years. He married Florence Emma Billing (b. 1864) and was survived by a daughter Maybelle (Mrs. J.Gordon Billinghurst), and a son, Percy Willmot Davies.
