916392 Regimental Sergeant Major (WOI) George Arthur Brinkworth was a veteran of the First World War and RSM of the 2nd (Reserve) Battalion of the Queen’s Own 1942-1946.
He was born in Birmingham, England on December 13 1887 to Arthur and Annie Brinkworth. At the time of his attestation into the 198th Battalion CEF on 20 March 1916 he and his wife Ethel lived in Toronto and he listed his occupation as Munitions Worker. Proceeding to England in March of 1917 Brinkworth relinquished his rank of Corporal in February 1918 in order to proceed overseas to France with 2 Canadian Mounted Rifles. He was invalided back to Canada early 1919.
Brinkworth re-enlisted into the Queen’s Own in 1926 and was appointed RSM of the 2nd (Reserve) Battalion QOR from 1942-46.
