Rifleman Arthur William Beaver

Rifleman B64131 Arthur William Beaver was born 2 January 1917 in Alderville , Ontario, son of Samuel and Minnie Beaver. He was a member of Alderville First Nation and received his education in Alderville and Campbellford.

Beaver enlisted with The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada in June 1940 and after spending six months in Newfoundland and New Brunswick, went overseas in July 1941.

On 24 July 1944 he received bomb fragment wounds in his left thigh. Beaver had just rejoined the QOR was serving as a Bren Gun carrier driver and was killed in action near Calais on 1 October.

He is buried in the Calais Canadian War Cemetery, grave reference: 1. G. 1.
