BAILEY, Ernest Roy

020200221_0014Roy Ernest Bailey was born on August 29, 1922 in Silver Water, Manitoulin Island, ON.

He enlisted in the Army on September 21, 1941. He served with the Essex Scottish Regiment and the Queen’s Own Rifles in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during World War II. He was wounded at Dieppe in 1942 and later went on to serve as part of the army of occupation.

Roy was, discharged on February 6, 1946 and earned his living as a carpenter.  He was a member of Blind River Legion Branch 189 for 22 years and Gore Bay Legion Branch 514 for 16 years.

Roy passed away on February 8, 1997.
