Douglas Herbert Ashton was born circa 1923, the son of Jack Ashton and Dorothy Ritter.
He was a self employed sales agent and had served during the second World War with The Queens Own Rifles of Canada and was one of the first soldiers to land on D-Day.
He was for over 30 years a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 344 (Queen’s Own Rifles), Toronto.
Doug died in Kitchener, Ontario 15 July 2002 and his ashes were interred in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.
