Armstrong, George Reginald

B65605 Corporal George Reginald Armstrong was born 4 July 1914, son of John and Mary A. Armstrong, of Newcastle-on-Tyne, England.

He was working as a labourer when he enlisted with the 3rd Battalion, The Queen’s Own Rifles on 2 June 1942 (although a paybook shows him as a machine operator.)

Armstrong embarked for England on 29 December 1942 as a reinforcement to the QOR 1st Battalion however after a stay in hospital, he was taken on strength by the 48th Highlanders on 6 April 1944.

He was killed in action on 15 April 1945 and is buried in Holten Canadian War Cemetery, Grave Reference: I. C. 16, The Netherlands.
