“It’s a race to the finish line for the Canadian peacekeepers. The troops (1st Battalion, Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada) are assembled, the ships are readied and morale is running high. But on the eve of their departure, the Canadians suffer a devastating rejection. The Egyptians have objected to Canada’s participation in the peacekeeping effort. CBC cameras capture the heady high and humiliating low the soldiers face as a result of this surprising diplomatic development.”

My father Robert HM Millar was in the QOR in 1956 and sent to Halifax only to be sent home again.

Arlene – Thanks for your comment. If you have any other details about your father and his service, we’d love to add it to our database – even a photo of him in uniform?? You can send anything to museum@qormuseum.org
Thanks,
