Description
Copper plaque commemorating Rifleman Bill Ross and comrades who spent their first night in Normandy near this spot, after capturing the village. It is mounted on the wall surrounding a large crucifix which was there on 6 June 1944. Dedicated June 2009 in the presence of Bill Ross and family.
“It is here that Bill Ross and his courageous comrades of The Queen’s own Rifles of Canada spent their first night on Norman soil liberated on June 6th, 1944. May they always be honoured. We will remember them. With gratitude and affection, The WBS [Westlake Brothers Souvernir] Association and the children of the CM2 of Anisy, June, 2009.”
