
Chief Warrant Officer Matthew R. Pike, CD has been a member of the Canadian Army Reserve for more than thirty-four years, having enrolled at the age of sixteen with The Ontario Regiment (RCAC). Qualified as a Master Crewman, he has served as driver, gunner, and crew commander of an Armoured Fighting Vehicle, and later as a patrol commander, troop warrant, and Squadron Sergeant Major. As an armoured crewman, he was part of the top armoured troop in Canada that won the Worthington Trophy in 1995.
Before entering policing, CWO Pike spent three years on Class B service, during which he was employed in the role of Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant and was twice recognized as the Regiment’s top Master Corporal. In 1998, he deployed on Operation RECUPERATION during the Eastern Ontario ice storm, where he was a patrol commander assisting local first responders with presence patrols, evacuations, and the establishment of warming centres in Lanark County.
In addition to his regimental experience, CWO Pike is qualified and has served with 33 Canadian Brigade Group Influence Activities Company in Civil-Military Cooperation and Information Operations roles.
Alongside his military duties, CWO Pike has built a distinguished policing career with York Regional Police and Durham Regional Police Service. His experience includes uniform patrol, community-oriented policing, criminal investigations, intelligence operations, covert policing, and human intelligence collection. He spent more than nine years seconded to the Ontario Provincial Police Provincial Anti-Terrorism Section, where he worked as a Criminal Intelligence Officer supporting national security and counter-terrorism investigations, and received an Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner’s Commendation for an outstanding investigation against a listed terrorist entity in Canada. He currently serves as a Detective in Criminal Investigations in Oshawa.
CWO Pike is a recipient of the Canadian Forces Decoration and the Police Exemplary Service Medal. He has been married for twenty-two years and continues to balance a long military and policing career with a strong commitment to family.
On 1 April 2026, CWO Pike was appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major for Tactical Group Paratus, meaning RSM for both The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada and The Ontario Regiment (RCAC) located in Oshawa.
