SL163853 Corporal Phillip Narcisse Ledoux was born on June 13, 1942, to Frances Ledoux and Ara Wolfe , on the Mistawasis First Nation (now known as Mistawasis Nêhiyawak.)
Throughout his life, Philip lived in the town of Big River in 1948 where he attended school. His family moved back to Mistawasis, then to Duck Lake School for a while and then back to Mistawasis Day School until the end of June 1949. He went to Duck Lake School again from 1955 to June 1957. In September 1957 moved to Lebret, Saskatchewan until 1962.
Philip was in Cadets at Duck Lake from 1955 to 1957, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was in Lebret cadets from 1957 to 1960. He was a cadet major until August 1960, when he became Regimental Sergeant Major in August 1960 for Vernon, British Columbia Cadet Camp in charge of 3,000 Cadets upon graduation.
Back in Lebret Philip was promoted to Sergeant in the Militia (Regina Rifles L805753). He stayed in that position until June 1962.
He joined the Queens Own Rifles of Canada (Regular Force) on 24 April 1963 and was stationed in Calgary. Philip stayed there until November 1964. He was then posted to Victoria BC. He was stationed there until April 1965 and deployed to Cyprus until October 1965. In June 1965 he was deployed to Beirut, Lebanon for guard duty with the UN Forces. Upon completion, he returned to Canada in November of 1965.
On 26 March 1966 Phillip was discharged from the Army with the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Ledoux died in October 2019 and is buried in the Mistawasis Catholic Cemetery, Mistawasis First Nation, Saskatchewan.
