Beal, Ronald Frederick

B67139 Ronald Frederick Beal was born on 5 April 1921 in Toronto, Ontario the son of Sydney Austin Beal and Selina Lane.

He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army on 9 September 1939. He served with the Royal Regiment of Canada in Iceland, England, and France during World War II. He was taken prisoner of war in August 1942 as a result of the Dieppe raid and was held for 33 months. He was discharged in June 1945 after which he went to work for the Federal Government.

He was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal.

In 1946, Ronald joined the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada as a bugler.

He died in Toronto on 25 October 2018 and is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, grave reference Sec 42 Lot 2172.
