Robert was born on November 23, 1923 in Carrying Place, ON. He enlisted in the Army on February 16, 1943. He served with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada in Canada, France, Belgium and Holland during World War II. He assaulted Juno Beach on D-Day. He was wounded and hospitalized while serving. He rejoined his regiment in Ghent and was put to work with the Canadian Legion setting up canteens and organizing entertainment for the troops. He married Monique in 1946, they had two sons. After his discharge on May 29, 1946, he spent most of his working life in the transport industry. Robert has been a member of Fred Gies Legion Branch 50 for 10 years.
